A recording of the celebration of the bicentenary of the birth of Bahá’u’lláh at the continental Bahá’í Temple for South America
Across Chile, in gatherings large and small, members of the community came together to honour Bahá’u’lláh's life and teachings on the occasion of the bicentenary of His birth. Only a year before, the country became host to the Bahá’í House of Worship for South America — the last of the continental Bahá’í Temples. The House of Worhsip in Chile receives a daily stream of visitors, often numbering in the thousands. It has become an iconic symbol in the country and a source of inspiration around the world.
Commemorations of the bicentenary attracted people from all walks of life, including the Mayor of the Metropolitan Region of Santiago. The Mayor visited the House of Worship to accept a gift of 200 trees, offered to honour the bicentenary. The trees were raised on the Temple grounds by the Bahá’í community as a part of an enivronmental initiative called the Native Flora Project.
