In Hungary, where the Bahá’í Faith has been present since the visit of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá to Budapest in 1913, the bicentenary of the birth of Bahá’u’lláh was marked with gatherings that brought together neighbours and friends for joyful celebrations.
In the village of Nagykovácsi, eight Bahá’ís were assisted by many of their neighbours to hold a celebration that was attended by 50 participants. From booking the venue to preparing the invitations, from setting up the audio-visual equipment to cleaning up after the event, numerous residents of the village arose to help make this a befitting commemoration of what they recognized as a significant historical occasion. The guests enjoyed dinner together and a programme that included prayers, a musical composition using a writing of Bahá’u’lláh in the traditional Hungarian folk music style, and a screening of the film Light to the World.
